Michelle Kaminski

Michelle Kaminski is an exceptional trumpet player who won First Prize at the 1995 Moscow International Trumpet Competition.  Her performances were stunning; she captivated a very critical and knowledgeable audience consisting almost entirely of Russian professional trumpeters.

Other honors include:  Finalist, 1993 Trumpet Competition of the A.R.D., Munich, Germany; Second Prize, 1993 International Women’s Brass Conference Solo Competition; Finalist, 1992 Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Competition ; First Prize, 1991 International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition ; First Prize, 1991 Central Florida I.T.G.International Trumpet Competition; and Second Prize at the 1990 Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Competition.

Kaminski has appeared as a soloist with the Kremlin Orchestra (Moscow), the University of North Texas Brass Choir, the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra, Nova, the University of Illinois Symphonic Band, the University of Illinois British Brass Band, the South Suburban Youth Symphony, and the Chicago Heights Youth Symphony.

A versatile musician, Kaminski is also known for her performances of early music. She performs regularly on natural trumpet with several early music groups, including the Dallas Bach Society and the Orchestra of New Spain.  Kaminski has appeared as a natural trumpet soloist with the Orchestra of New Spain and Les petits violons.

Michelle Kaminski was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1967. She graduated with honors from the University of Illinois with a BM in 1989 and earned a MM from the University of North Texas in 1992.
