I have to get in better shape for the amount of playing I have to do the weekend of the James Morrison concert, so I’m practicing more. (I know, I know, that only makes sense.) I’m slowly increasing the amount of time I put in each day so that I don’t hurt myself and slow my progress.
But there’s more to it than that…it’s also about making time for practice. It’s something like this…if you dip a bucket into the ocean and throw the water in the bucket on the beach, when you turn back to the ocean, there is no hole where the water was. When you reduce your practice time, life flows in the hole and fills it up. It takes effort to push practicing back into your schedule.
But the payoff is playing better! And that makes it worthwhile!!
